Adeline Medeiros

As the Executive Director of The Children’s Storefront, Adeline leads a first-of-its-kind, free program that empowers parents to build their children’s brains in the first 1,000 days of life through the power of interactive play. With over 15 years of experience in social work, community organizing, and early childhood development, she is passionate about making social change work more effective and impactful for families and communities.

Adeline Medeiros is an award-winning social worker, educator, nonprofit leader, and early childhood expert. She has nearly twenty years of experience in making social change work more effective and impactful for families and communities. After searching for ways to make transformational, root cause impact through her career, partnering with families during the first few years of their children’s lives has become her passion.

Since joining The Children’s Storefront in April 2022, Adeline has transformed the organization, exponentially increasing the number of families served; developing a sound framework for its nascent program; defining a clear theory of change; increasing revenue by 40% while decreasing and steadying expenses; developing brand new internal systems, policies, and infrastructure; and building a world-class team of talented and passionate professionals. She brings together expertise in community building, relational leadership, liberatory design, systems thinking, and justice-oriented organizational development.

Previously, Adeline was the Borough Director for Power of Two where she led a team of 25 to expand services throughout New York City, serving hundreds of families annually. She also served as Associate Director of Community at 100Kin10, where she worked to strengthen STEM education in the United States. She began her career as a community organizer and coalition builder, and has previously directed civic engagement efforts at Barnard College, taught as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University, and led community leadership programs. Adeline earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Bridgewater State University, a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University, and has received her LMSW and SIFI certification. She is an active leader in the fight for equity and racial justice, a regular guest lecturer and trainer at educational and community institutions across the country, a long-time member of NASW-NYC’s political action committee, and a recipient of the National Association of Social Worker’s Emerging Social Work Leader Award.
