We are thrilled to share some exciting news with our community: The Children’s Storefront is expanding our early childhood program to better serve the families of Harlem. This expansion marks a significant milestone in our journey, reflecting our commitment to providing essential brain development resources for young children from birth to three years.
Since the pilot phase of our program in 2019, and the official opening of our Play & Learn Center in 2022, we’ve seen remarkable growth. In just 1.5 years, we have grown from serving an average of 30 families per year to nearly 500 families in 2024. With our upcoming expansion, we are on track to serve over 650 families in the coming year.
What’s New?
- Increased Session Availability: We are expanding our offerings from approximately 10 sessions per week to nearly 20. This means more opportunities for families to engage in our program, which is designed to nurture early brain development through interactive and enriching activities. Our new schedule will run from Wednesday through Sunday, with sessions available in the mornings, evenings, and weekends. This expansion is based directly on feedback from our families, ensuring that we meet their diverse needs and schedules.
- Bilingual Programming: To better serve our community, all of our classes will continue to be offered in both English and Spanish. We understand the importance of accessibility and inclusivity, and we are committed to providing high-quality programming in the languages most relevant to our families.
- Enhanced Program Registration System: We are excited to introduce a brand-new program registration system designed to make the process as seamless as possible. Caregivers will now have access to their own individual portal, allowing for easy and convenient registration. This new system will streamline the process and provide a more user-friendly experience for all involved.
